MDC-T primary election results for Bulawayo and Chitungwiza

BULAWAYO – Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s MDC party held confirmation exercises and primary elections to select candidates who will represent the party in parliamentary elections set for this year. Sunday was the second day of the process.

Today’s elections were held in Bulawayo, Chitungwiza, Seke Rural, Goromonzi and Mhondoro.

In Bulawayo Albert Mhlanga was confirmed to be the candidate for the party in Pumula, Sipepa Nkomo in Lobengula-Njube and Reggie Moyo – Luveve, were all confirmed to be the next candidates.

Dorcas Sibanda (Bulawayo Central), Samuel Sandla Khumalo (Mpopoma Pelandaba) and Felix Mafa Sibanda will face the next stage of the primaries as they failed to secure the necessary two thirds majority. Prince Dube won the primary elections in Entumbane Makandeni and Masuku Phelela won in Nketa.

The only sitting MP to be confirmed in Chitungwiza is Alexio Musundire in Zengeza East.

Those going to the next stage of primaries are Fidelis Mhashu (Chitungwiza North), Greenbet Dongo (Goromonzi South), Colin Gwiyo (Zengeza West), Misheck Shoko (Chitungwiza South) and Marvelous Khumalo (St Mary’s).

Elections in Goromonzi North were postponed to a later date while Ian Makone won the right to represent the party in Goromonzi West.

In the primary elections held in Mhondoro Ngezi, Dennis Tirivanhu Juru will represent the party while Thomas Nyamayaro and Honest Manhando will stand as candidates in Seke Rural and Mhondoro Mubaira respectively.
