Sangoma accuses wife of tearing his garments

By Adoration Bizure

A Harare sangoma told the court that he is bitter because his wife tore the garments he uses for rituals. For that reason Pearson Goremusanu wants his wife Winne Goremusanu barred from entering the room where he keeps his tools for his trade.

This came to light at the Harare Civil Court where Pearson was seeking a protection order against Winnie.

“I am a sangoma and I have a room at the house where I have been keeping some garments and other objects which I inherited from my fore fathers. I use these things to perform rituals when I am attending to my clients but I lost all of them when my wife broke the keys to the room and tore them apart,” he said.

He also told the court that he has lost many clients ever since his garments were destroyed.

Responding to the matter, Winnie told the court that she was not the one who broke into Pearson’s room.

“I am not the one who entered his room; what happened was that one of his relatives came to the house and there was no place for him to sleep. So he broke the door and removed the ritual objects inside the room and started using the room,” said Winnie.

Magistrate Vongai Muchuchuti, who presided over the case, granted the protection order which bars Winnie from entering Pearson’s room.
