HARARE – Continuous power cuts dampened Alick Macheso’s family show held at Extra Mile last Sunday with irked fans threatening to walk out of the venue in protest.
Despite attracting a bumper crowd, the star entertainer’s performance was marred by the power failure forcing the organiser to resort to an alternative source of power that also failed to rescue the situation.
The provided generator also failed to sustain the sound system resulting into persistent cuts and poor sound quality. During this forced break, Macheso could be heard comforting his fans while engineers were working flat out to rectify the situation.
“Magetsi aita majerasi, regai vakomana vambofixa fixa,” Macheso could be heard saying.
Baba Sharo, as the musician is known to his fans, also took the opportunity to have photo shoots with fans, among them children.
Macheso however gave a top drawer performance coupled with new style and chants by Jonasi Kasamba. His dancers led by Majuice also proved their significance to the band with their modified Kochekera dance though a lot needs to be done on their dressing.
Macheso came on stage around 3:30 pm churning out hits from his previous albums which he believes describes the real Orchestra Mberikwazvo. “Idzodzi idzi ndiyo foundation, ndipo pamwoyo patakasimukira,” he said after performing the song Baba naMai.
