Ditched woman demands $600 for ‘services’

HARARE – An intimate affair between a couple from Mbare ended in a dramatic but violent manner. The woman started demanding US$600 in damages for the sexual favours she had given the boyfriend over the five months they were in love.

Felistus Chiyangwa started demanding the money from her lover Adrain Tafadwza Mushonga, which she said was compensation for sex they had during the days they were in love before he dumped her for another woman. Adrain, who had dated Felistus for five months, found new love in the UK.

Felistus said that Adrain started behaving awkwardly towards her since the day his other lover returned from the UK. She opened up when the couple appeared at the Harare Civil Court where Adrain was seeking a protection order against his former lover (Felistus).

Felistus complained that Adrain wanted to dump her despite the fact that she offered him sex over the period his lover was away.

“I don’t have anywhere to go and my parents cannot accept me at their house considering how I was living over the past months. I have sacrificed a lot of things and at times chose to forgo other things for the sake of love little did I know that I will end like this.

“I was staying with my aunt but I was chased away for returning home late after he had detained me at his house,” she said.

Felistus demanded that Adrain pays her US$600 if he was not prepared to take her as his wife.

“If he is not prepared to take me then he must pay me US$600 as compensation for all the sexual favours that I have given him. I will then take part of the money to my parents so that they would accept me back,” she said.

She also told magistrate Vongai Muchuchuti that she lost a tooth after Adrain gave her a hiding. Adrain told the court that he was not prepared to pay any cent in compensation to his former lover. He also said that he was living at no peace at the hands of Felistus whom he accused of forcing herself on him.

“I no longer love her but she is forcing herself on me. I also want her to move out of my aunt’s house where she is currently staying since I am no longer attached to her. I never forced her to be in love with me as she consented to all that we did,” he said.

Adrain also begged the court to bar Felistus from assaulting his UK girlfriend. Magistrate Vongai Muchuchuti ordered the couple to approach her chambers to proceed with the hearing.
