HARARE – A High Court judge has urged businessman Phillip Chiyangwa and Engineer Elijah Chifamba to solve their matters amicably out of court accusing them of taking advantage of the court processes.
Eng Chifamba is suing Chiyangwa for US$1,2 million for engineering services he says he did for Pinnacle Holdings while Chiyangwa who also owns Glory Car Hire, Travel Tours, is suing his former engineer over a US$19,000 car rental debt.
Justice Hlekani Mwayera during the pre-trial conference told the pairs’ lawyers Samukange and Venturas and Mhishi Legal Practice to sit down with their clients with a view to settling the matter out of court.
She said the parties involved were wasting the court’s time before postponing the matter to March 20 when they are expected to brief the court on their deliberations.
Eng Chifamba’s lawyers, Samukange and Venturas, advised the judge that a proper reconciliation should be done on the car rental debt and if they would be any outstanding balance it should be offset by the engineering firm. On the US$1,2 million he said Chiyangwa should propose an acceptable offer.
