‘Miracle money’ or devil’s work in Zimbabwe?

By Howard Tundu

Being a pastor, I want to add my contribution to the current debate on “miracle money” – a term introduced to our vocabulary by Prophet Uebert Angel of the Spirit Embassy.

Uebert Angel and wife BeverlyI listened to a radio programme on Star FM where a pastor from Spirit Embassy was hosted to address questions and explain the issues to do with this subject.

When asked to explain how money appears in handbags, pockets and bank accounts of people, the pastor simply said it could not be explained just as the coin from the fish’s mouth could not be explained.

I want to explain the coin in the mouth of the fish and show the readers that they have to be careful when we talk about miracles. It is true that miracles happen, but there is need to identify the spirit behind a miracle and see if it is the work of God.

During the time of Moses, many miracles were performed by the man of God but the King’s magicians also reproduced similar miracles in many cases. The Bible shows us that we have to try ministers of the word and expose them in telling whether they are true or false:

Revelation 2:1 Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;

2:2 I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars;

2:3 And hast born, and hast patience, and for my name’s sake hast labored, and hast not fainted;

2:4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love;

2:5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

The above scripture together with many others warn us to try the spirits since many other spirits other than the Spirit of God could inspire people to work miracles as pointed out throughout the Bible. Matthew 7 actually warns those who use the name of Jesus in doing miracles and casting out demons that they will not be spared as long as they are not in Him even though they experienced success in calling his name whilst on earth.

The first issue I will point out in explaining the coin in the fish’s mouth is that God is a God of order and does not promote chaos. He works with established systems and laws on earth to accomplish the overall good for everyone. The coin that was retrieved in the fish’s mouth was not created, the miracle was in identifying and trapping that fish that had swallowed the coin.

If Jesus wanted to create the coin he could have simply made it appear in Peter’s pocket or His own pocket or could just have made it appear just like that. Huge fish can swallow stones, coins, gold etc and Jesus would say give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar hence he would not create a coin of an established state.

Money is different from other things which are just natural resources like water being turned into wine, two small fish and five loaves of bread being blessed to feed a multitude, manna raining from heaven, water coming from a rock. It is important to note that all these food items came from something as in wine from water etc. They did not just appear just like that.

It is important again to note here that these miracles did not affect any established systems nor brought confusion unlike the miracle money which has brought confusion. It has brought confusion because people want to know where it has come from and unlike other miracles which could be used up immediately, miracle money if it is genuine becomes part of the money in circulation. It therefore has to be accounted for by responsible authorities.

Having noted this, it remains clear that such kind of miracles cannot be performed without the participation of the monetary authorities. The Bible says God is not the author of confusion and in this case God does not work out things in a way that compromises His nature and His word.

The Scripture that says Silver and Gold belong to God simply acknowledges that whatever we have on earth ultimately belongs to God. I am not saying the miracle money Prophet is not of God, but I warn him to discern everything since the devil can tempt him and manipulate him to do things outside God’s purpose. Remember Jesus was tempted to turn stones into bread but He recognised it was not God’s voice.

Satan was expelled from God’s Kingdom but he still has power to work miracles. Things that mysteriously appear and cause confusion are normally associated with magic and Satanism hence believers should guard against using anything from the dark kingdom. Money has serial numbers and if it was not created, then it means magic power took it from someone to credit another person. Some want to say it is the wealth of sinners being given to Saints. It does not happen like that.

When God is punishing people, He tells them their punishment and causes the recipients to claim openly as in the days of Israelites overcoming certain kingdoms in the Bible and occupying their lands openly. This is an example.

Every God ordained miracle would glorify God, all food miracles in the Bible had everyone benefit but this miracle money has left others within the congregation just looking and wondering why they could not have it also. A God sent minister is not seen through miracles but through the fruit of the Spirit and the humility he reflects throughout. He does not take it personal with people, He does not seek to be glorified by man.
