David Sibanda brought Tanaka Musasiwa to the Harare Civil Court wanting her to vacate the house. The request was dismissed by magistrate Ms Miriam Banda for lack of merit. Sibanda told the court that he did not believe Musasiwa was the right woman for him.

“I am asking this court to order this woman to stay away from the house that my wife who is in the UK built, I no longer love her.

“I have a child with her and I am willing to look after my child, but not her. She sent her brother to assault me demanding lobola, but she forcibly moved in at my house after she started feeling insecure,” he said.

Sibanda claimed that Musasiwa was violent and ordered her brother to beat him up in the presence of his children.

Responding to his boyfriend’s application, Musasiwa said: “Firstly, this man is not married. He told me that he is having problems with his wife and they have been separated for 10 years.”

“His wife came in August this year and confirmed that the two have had problems for the past 10 years. I did not elope to this man’s house, but he begged me to move in with him.

“He introduced me to his kids and I don’t abuse them as he is alleging. I have been staying with them for seven months.”

Ms Banda advised Sibanda to follow proper channels if he wanted to divorce Musasiwa. The Herald
