Girls La Musica lob ‘verbal grenades’ at Beverly

By Esther Gomo (Nehanda Showbiz)

Girls La Musica dance group leader Priscilla Taurai has lobbed verbal grenades at rival dancers Beverly Sibanda and Zoey Norleen Sifelani over their raunchy dances claiming such ‘bubblegum entertainment’ will not stand the test of time.

In an interview with the weekly Standard newspaper Taurai said Beverley and Zoey should change their routines because they “are too explicit and that does not fit within the confines of our culture.”

Taurai said people will soon get fed up and shun the duo. She urged fellow dancers to remain professional and focused.

“I have been a dancer since 2004 and I see girls getting pregnant because of promiscuity and that is not right. This trade is all about discipline, but it is a pity these girls get carried away,” she told the paper.

Offering to disagree however was Beverly’s manager Harpers Mapimhidze who told the paper “Priscilla started dancing a long time ago. She is one of the pioneers of dance groups, but if she cannot accept change then it’s a pity.”

“This is a new flair that has been brought in Zimbabwe by Beverly and Zoey and people like it. Of course she [Taurai] is one of the best in terms of sungura (dances) but we have known that for too long and we need something new.”
