Prosecutors depicted 36-year-old Eugene Marongwe as a paedophile who started snaring the juvenile two years ago when she was 13 and in Form One.

He had been sending love text messages and calling her into his office where he would make sexually suggestive comments since 2010, prosecutor Yvonne Gurira Mushunje said. The court heard that in May this year, the art teacher called the girl to his office and offered to teach her “practical sex lessons” before attempting to rape her.

According to the prosecutor, Marongwe had ordered the girl to close the door and she complied. He allegedly forced her to sit close to him but she refused, stating that it made her uncomfortable. The court heard Marongwe stood up and advanced towards the girl demanding sex before unzipping his trousers.

He dragged the girl, still insisting on the “practical” lessons but she managed to sneak out of the office after a struggle, the court heard. Police arrested Marongwe after a report by school authorities. He is out on $50 bail and will be back in court next Tuesday. Daily News
