Chief Musarurwa said Zimbabweans should accept the fact that Mugabe is the country’s king and the country is under a monarch, noting that traditional leaders countrywide will ensure that he rules till he dies.

He said elections and democracy came with whites from the West and will not be recognised in Zimbabwe.

“Zimbabwe is ruled by a monarch and President Robert Mugabe is our king. Mugabe is our king who will die ruling Zimbabwe. Those who are saying we should remove him through elections are wasting their time,” Musarurwa said to applause from chiefs, government officials and Zanu-PF supporters  attending a four-day Chiefs Annual Conference that kicked off at Bulawayo’s Large City Hall on Wednesday.

Musarurwa added: “Elections and democracy were brought by the white colonialists. As Zimbabwe traditional chiefs, we do not believe in that, but we believe in our monarch that is why we still support Mugabe and that is why he is still ruling us, we want him to continue as  Zimbabwe leader and not only as Zanu PF leader”.

Zanu PF officials, chiefs and allies of the President are known for trying to outdo each other in praising Mugabe during state functions and other occasions.

Last month, during the President’s birthday bash in Mutare some Zanu PF officials said Mugabe is made of “rare-fabric which is strong” saying this is the reason why he has continued to rule the country from 1980 to date.

Musarurwa also blasted magistrates and police saying “they do not respect traditional chiefs’ courts as they don’t enforce their judgments.” Daily News
