Fresh from a diplomatic offensive that isolated Robert Mugabe at the recent SADC summit in Zambia, Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai is tightening the screws further with more trips to regional leaders.
An extraordinary SADC summit to decisively deal with Zimbabwe once and for all is being slated for next month and Tsvangirai on Thursday left for Lesotho and was expected to be in Angola on Friday.
Not only is the MDC leader briefing SADC leaders about Mugabe’s crackdown and refusal to implement sections of the power sharing deal, he is trying to get a solid electoral road map from SADC that will guarantee a free and fair election.
Before the last SADC Troika summit that cornered Mugabe and rebuked him for the violence and intimidation, Tsvangirai had travelled to and seen leaders from Zambia, Mozambique, Botswana, Swaziland, South Africa and Namibia.
Senior MDC officials have since confirmed to Nehanda Radio.com that Tsvangirai will also travel to Tanzania, the DRC and Malawi as part of his diplomatic charm offensive.
