A few hours after arresting Energy Minister Elton Mangoma, Mugabe’s police on Friday were said to be hunting for Co-Home Affairs Minister Theresa Makone on dubious charges of abuse of office. The same charges were laid on Mangoma the first time he was arrested at the beginning of the month.

More details on the story are coming but it’s thought Mugabe’s Zanu PF party is determined to trim the MDC-T advantage before a new vote for the Speaker of Parliament. As it stands 3 MDC-T MP’s are in custody, Mangoma, Makone and Costin Muguti from Gokwe.

Makone said that Zanu-PF wants to stop her and other MDC MPs voting in next week’s election for a speaker of parliament. She said she had been told that another MP and Lovemore Moyo, the former speaker of parliament, also faced arrest.

Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s spokesman Luke Tamborinyoka told Nehanda Radio.com that Mugabe’s police want to arrest six MPs, including Makone on spurious charges.
