Zimbabwean giants Dynamos FC saw their hopes of progressing in the CAF African Champions League go up in smoke after succumbing 0-2 to the reigning African Champions TP Mazembe from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Mazembe beat De Mbare in a thrilling quarter final tie marked by poor defending in the first half by the hosts in Harare on Sunday. Although Dynamos got their act together in the second half it was too little too late for them as they squandered chance after chance.

De Mbare now have the tall order of needing to beat Tunisian giants Esperance away from home on the 31st July. Coach Elvis Chiweshe says he is confident his side can pull off the miracle that is now needed to save their campaign and make it through to the semi finals.

Dynamos boast an impressive record in the tournament having reached the finals in 1998 when they lost to the impressive Asec Mimosas of the Ivory Coast. The Glamour Boys also reached the semi finals of the same tournament in 2008 after getting their revenge by beating Asec Mimosas along their way.
