Zimbabwean soccer giants Dynamos FC thrashed Botswana’s Gaborone United 4-1 in the mini-league of the African Champions League played at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Goals from Dylan Chivandire, Benjamin Marere, Farai Vimisayi, and Evans Gwekwerere were enough to give Dembare a comfortable lead in the first leg of the tie. It was the visitors however who took a shock lead when Mandla Mgadla stabbed a spilled shot from the Dynamos keeper Washington Arubi.
Dynamos coach Elvis Chiweshe said: “The players were hungry for goals. I still regret though that we squandered a lot of chances that came our way. We could have won by a much bigger margin, but it’s in our hands now.”
Gaborone United coach David Bright meanwhile said, “They were (Dynamos) resolute in defence and were always dangerous when attacking but I am confident we can turn the tables in Gaborone.”
