Eddie Cross & white cartel destroying MDC

There have been numerous stories on corruption allegations against Ministers Elias Mudzuri of Energy, Giles Mutsekwa of Home Affairs and deputy Minister of Mines Murisi Zwizwai but all the stories fail to detail how the three MDC officials have been involved by way of bringing to the fore evidence to prove the allegations.

In this article I want share with readers why the three ministers have been targeted by Cross who has taken it upon himself to police all MDC activities despite the fact that party has its own security personnel and that the Prime Minister who appointed these three also receives intelligence information on the activities of his ministers and senior party officials.

The second plot against these ministers especially Mudzuri and Zwizwai is political mudslinging and tribal as well and the imposed chair lady of the MDC Women’s Assembly who has taken it upon herself to soil the party by bribing journalist and editor of the CIO-run News Leader Itai Dzamara to destroy the two politicians especially Mudzuri.

Eddie Cross (MP)

Cross reportedly told the MDC national executive this month that he has evidence of corrupt activities against Mudzuri, Zwizwai and Mutsekwa and the party seems to be fooled into believing his allegations without providing evidence and without investigating his interests in all this given that this man was declared insolvent by the High Court  not so long ago.

This means that the man is not fit to be close to any substantial amounts of many. Evidence of corruption and financial irregularities are found at Cross’ doorstep than the said Ministers. The evidence is a matter of court records not the fiction he is spreading in the media, destroying his colleagues’ standing and the party in the process.

Why can’t Cross report the matter to the police so that the three get arrested? If he is a good citizen and is not malicious Cross should simply take his evidence and hand it to the Criminal Investigating Department (CID) for criminal prosecution. I also challenge the Fuel companies and all those people and business bribed by Mudzuri, Zwizwai and Mutsekwa to report the matter to the police.

Cross should also make public those companies so that people know. Zimbabweans are civilized and educated enough to know that even a white person can be a crook, corrupt and lie as well. That’s why Cross was declared insolvent by a court of law in this country and rehabilitated economically and financially.

Firstly in April 2009 when there was a shortage of fuel in the country, Eddie Cross organized a meeting with fuel leaders at Total Zimbabwe at which he told them that Mudzuri was a failure and will be removed. Cross also told the fuel industry captains that Mudzuri was a temporary Minister and will be removed in due course. This revelation shocked the captains of industry who failed to understand why Cross was attacking Mudzuri in his absence.

The business people also failed to appreciate the role of Cross in the fuel problems then and in what capacity he was addressing the fuel sector. The MDC and Zimbabweans therefore need to understand Cross’ allegations against Mudzuri in this context. But there is more to it than that.

Here is the explanation; Cross is part of a cartel of white business people who want to get tenders from key government ministries such as the ones run by the three accused MDC officials. This white cartel represented by Cross in the MDC mistakenly believe that the MDC should facilitate their economic enrichment by corruptly giving them tenders to do their business.

I suspect that Mudzuri, Zwizwai and Mutsekwa have refused or failed to do that. In any case Cross should know that any deals that three could do outside of the provisions of the government tender systems and procedures will be corrupt.

Why is Cross fighting hard to oust ministers for failing to save his corrupt cartel? He pretends to be fighting against corruption while his main agenda is to corrupt the Ministers and to save the interests of a cartel. Is the MDC a party meant to save the interests of cartels?

I know for sure that during the Saga between Moxon, the director of Meikles and Nigel Chanakira, the white cartel represented by Cross in the MDC was not happy with how Mutsekwa handled their case during the dispute. They met and agreed that he should be fired. How on earth can they stomach the idea that a Home Affairs Co- Minister with very little power under the GPA can be involved in bribes?

Mutsekwa is just a powerless Minister and every Zimbabwean except Cross and his white and racist cartel have other ideas. Failure to protect Moxon and his group is the main reason why Mutsekwa is being targeted by Cross and his evil cartel.

Why does the MDC leadership invest its faith in a discredited person like Cross? Of what political capital is he for the party except this clear destructive agenda? Is he the secretary of security in the party or the Prime Minister’s intelligence team, why should he be believed without giving empirical evidence? It boggles the mind.

There is also evidence that since the fall out between Mudzuri and Theresa Makone over how the succession in the Women’s Assembly was handled in 2007, Makone has vowed to make sure that she creates a wedge between Mudzuri and the MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai by teaming up with discredited journalist and editor of The CIO-run News Reader Itai Dzamara.

It is alleged that Makone bribes Dzamara to write stories linking Mudzuri and the ousted Women Assembly chair lady Lucia Matibenga to an imaginary plot to oust Tsvangirai or to form a splinter political party. Those in the MDC know very well that Mudzuri respects Tsvangirai as the undisputed president of the party and respects party protocols and procedure.

This faith was confirmed when the MDC leader appointed him as Minister of a key national sector but Makone is undaunted and will continue to work with Dzamara and other journalists paying them huge sums of money so that the MDC grassroots begin to fight Mudzuri on the basis of fictitious power struggles between him and the undisputed national leader of the party.

There are senior leaders in the MDC who would not want the truth for purposes of making sure that Mudzuri is seen by MDC supporters as over-ambitious and want to destroy the party their by setting the agenda to oust him when the party congress is held when ever that happens. But these dangerous political games will ultimately destroy the party.

The last issue concerns Mudzuri and Zwizwai. There is a group led by Theresa Makone which is of the view that there are many Karangas in the national executive, the standing committee of the MDC and Cabinet. Makone’s group wants Karangas to be reduced. But if these people especially in the national executive are a result of elections during Congress, why should these people be purged?

Is it criminal for the MDC to choose its national leaders at its Congress irrespective of where they come from? Will it be the MDC national policy to say that its structures should purge people on the basis of their tribe or that its Congress must purge because of where they come from. Could this be the reason why Matibenga was unconstitutionally removed as chair of the Women’s Assembly and why proper elections in that MDC wing cannot be held?

The MDC has enough brains including lawyers like Tendai Biti the party’s secretary general to know and realize that this is not a civilized way of running party affairs. Is the MDC Zanunizing its affairs? Only time will tell.

In my next article I will further examine the works of Eddie Cross in the MDC. I will examine why he leaks stories to the media and why he has appointed himself the un-official spokesperson of the party.
