Hull City Manager Phil Brown has ruled out a January transfer window move for Manchester City striker Benjani Mwaruwari calling such a move a ‘no brainer.’
Brown bitter at Benjani snubbing Hull City last time around quipped, “It’s six months down the line now for Benjani and it’s a no-brainer for me.’
“Where Benjani was concerned, in the last transfer window there was a lot of activity and it wasn’t right for me at the time. I don’t think the lad conducted himself in the right manner and I’m not interested.”
Brown is instead trying to revive his interest in Manchester City striker Felipe Caicedo. The 21-year-old Ecuador international, who is currently on loan at Sporting Lisbon, was one of Brown’s main targets in the summer.
The Tigers boss confirmed to the Hull Daily Mail: “We were interested in Caicedo last summer and he went to Sporting Lisbon.
“Apparently it hasn’t been a successful loan deal there, and I don’t know how it works because I was led to believe it was a season-long loan.
“However, with a change of chairmanship at Sporting Lisbon and the fact it hasn’t been successful in terms of on the field of play, it is a possibility that Caicedo would be of interest. If he goes back to Manchester City we would be interested.”
