Bulawayo school kicks out lesbian students
News — By admin on December 26, 2009 12:03 amBulawayo -Two Dominican Convent High School students in Bulawayo fell in love. And then they got expelled from their Roman Catholic school.
The students, who were in Form One and Form Three, were expelled from school before the third term holiday.Dominican Convent is a Catholic school for girls and is run by the Dominican Sisters.
It is alleged that the pair’s illicit affair was discovered when one of the girls’ stepmother received and read a text message meant for her daughter on her cellphone.
The mother is said to have quizzed the girl suspecting that she had a boyfriend at such a tender age.The girl is said to have told her mother that the message was harmless and was from a school friend.
“The girl told her mother that the message was from her friend from school but her mother did not buy the story. The mother then said she was going to get to the bottom of the matter by going to school,’’ said a source that preferred anonymity.
The source said the mother was fuming, vowing to have her stepdaughter and the “friend’’ punished for sending explicit messages.
The girl’s mother made a complaint at the school the following day and both girls were summoned to the headmistress’s office.
It emerged during that interaction that the girls were “in love’’. That development led to the girls’ expulsion from the institution.
“The headmistress invited both girls’ families to the school to discuss the matter and to inform them of their expulsion,’’ added the source.
This isn’t an unusual event, as it happens worldwide all the time, but that “although Zimbabwe does not tolerate homosexuality, people have continued to engage in the practice” line summarizing the action is chilling.
The most interesting part of this article is the persistent reporter character who describes being denied interviews from various school officials as if he actually could’ve possibly expected any of them to wanna sit down and dish about the lezzies
When a News crew went to the school on Friday last week to seek a comment from the headmistress, its reporter was barred from entering school offices.

As a parent all I can say is that this mother needs to go parenting school and learn the art of nurturing before jumping to conclusions as a way to deal with her own phobias. In this instance she is acting like a real typical stepmother… grow up mother. As for the journalist who wrote this story, this is poor and irresponsible journalism did you think of the impact of this story on the children, these are minors, and mind you a naughty text message between two minors is not equal to lesbianism.
So now what?? What the hell has any of this achieved, the poor girls have been expelled, lost the chance of getting an education, if they are gay, what will happen now. They will become not gay because they no longer go to school???? What a bunch of numbskulls, the whole lot, from the parents to the school. Africans should really try and do away with persecution as the solution to every situation, it achieves nothing, which is what we are always left with…nothing
Stepmother you said! Case closed!!
thick as an elephant skin to are the stepmother (surprise surprise), wat was she doing reading someone's messages anyway, the journalist, the school and mugabe
