Most civil servants in the country are earning slightly over US$150 a month.

Not only are residents in the various cities subjected to endless power cuts and load shedding, they are also being sent bills ranging from anything between US$500 to US$1000.

Small businesses already struggling to stay afloat are getting bills ranging from US$5,000 to US$12,000 a month.

‘It’s become commonplace to get home and find you’ve been disconnected or in towns like Marondera to find that ZESA employees have actually physically removed MCB’s (Mains Control Boards) from your house,’ a furious resident said.
