The main wing of the MDC led by Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai has accused its coalition partners the Mutambara MDC and Zanu PF of colluding to sabotage crucial unity government talks.
While the negotiators of the major political parties met on Monday at 10am to deliberate on the sticking matters, the negotiators from Mutambara’s grouping failed to turn up.
‘Professor Welshman Ncube and Hon Priscillah Misihairabwi Mushonga have chosen to prioritise flying to world capitals at the expense of resolving critical issues that will deliver real change to the people of Zimbabwe,’ the MDC-T said.
‘The deadline set by the SADC troika for the resolution of outstanding issues has once again been missed because of the intransigence, mischief and insincerity exhibited by the political players who are not taking the plight of the people of Zimbabwe seriously,’ the party added.
Ncube and Mushonga are arguing that they had prior engagements before the latest meetings were put together.
MDC-T officials however hit back saying there was nothing more important than solving the pressing unity government issues in the country.
wana pricilla inzenza idzi. ngatisiyanei nawo.
vakaenda ku honeymoon!!
The so called outstanding issues have been discussed to death. Mugabe has always done as he pleased; disregard what everyone ele says, act unilaterally and damn the consequences. Tsvangirai for once should have put his foot down and said no to further negotiations; Gono and Tomana must go end of story. Sadly Tsvangirai did not and now finds himself being given the usual run round!
Mugabe, Tsvangirai and Mutambara can continue with this pointless charade but they must now be aware of the growing call for fresh elections. As the GNU limps from one crisis to the next without ever addressing the key issues affecting the lives of Zimbabweans, the calls for fresh elections will grow louder and louder. As Tanonoka Joseph Whande correctly pointed out in his S W Radio Africa weekly programme, The Heart of the Matter, none of three leaders want fresh elections. But in the end the people will prevail; they will throw out this GNU and with it Mugabe, Tsvangirai and Mutambara!
