The constitutional discussion meetings held by Bulawayo Progressive Residents Association (BPRA) with Bulawayo Agenda over the weekend at Pelandaba/ Mabuthweni and Emakhandeni drew more than 300 residents and three Members of Parliament.

The meetings were addressed by the Member of Parliament for Mpopoma Constituency, Hon. S.S Khumalo, and Member of Parliament for Luveve, Hon R. Moyo and among those who attended was the MP for Nketa, Hon. S. Moyo.

The meetings sought to bridge the information gap and update residents on the current proceedings on the constitution making phase and to bring out strategies on how best residents’ views can resonate in the country’s new constitution.

The reports that came out during the meetings are that the thematic committees that have been set up to carry out consultations will begin their trainings next week and this will see them beginning their task in the third week of November 2009 and the process taking shape.

Meanwhile, the Environmental Management Agency (EMA) has donated cleaning equipment to BPRA which consists of bibs, brooms, wheelbarrow, shovels and racks. Speaking during the handover ceremony which featured the Bulawayo City Council (BCC), the council’s public relations officer Mrs. N. Mpofu said the equipment will assist residents in curbing the cholera epidemic and promoting environmental friendly initiatives which residents in their different wards of Bulawayo are currently undertaking.
