Portsmouth Football Club remain keen on signing Benjani.

The Zimbabwean international made his name in England for Pompey, before he left for Sven Goran Eriksson’s Manchester City in the New Year of 2007.

Benjani is well down the pecking order at Eastlands and almost returned to Fratton Park in the summer, a deal which Peter Storrie is keen to renew in January.

“We would be very keen to bring Benjani back,” the chief executive told the Sunday Mirror. “He has this thigh injury and nobody knows exactly what it is. He has broken down on it twice now.

“They tell me he could be a couple of weeks away. It would have been a hell of a risk. Our people are just waiting to see him play and we will revisit the situation again in January.” Source: Fans FC.com
