Dynamos juggernaut continues

Dynamos (0) 3 Motor Action (0) 1

WONDER SITHOLE was in inspired form as Dynamos produced a sensational come-from-behind performance to dispatch Motor Action in an absorbing premiership tie at Rufaro yesterday.

The win saw Elvis “Chuchu” Chiweshe’s charges taking their points tally to 38, four more than second placed Gunners who have played a game more.

DeMbare play their outstanding match against Black Rhinos at Rufaro on Wednesday confident of stretching their lead over Chando Kupisa after yesterday’s Wonder Sithole driven show.

Sithole fashioned out two of DeMbare’s goals as part of a man-of-the-match performance that earned him a standing ovation from the Harare giants’ faithful.

After a dull first half, characterised by unimaginative play and few clear cut chances, the match came to life just before the hour mark with Bekhimpilo Ncube giving the Mighty Bulls the lead.

The former Dynamos man rose highest to nod home a Themba Ndlovu cross to score his third goal in two matches after last week’s brace against Gunners.

But the Motor Action celebrations only lasted a minute as DeMbare captain Desmond Maringwa restored parity with his first goal of the season.

Maringwa capitalised on the failure by Mighty Bulls goalkeeper Marlon Jani to effectively deal with a curling Reuben Mhlanga free kick to hit the back of the nets with a half volley.

Then Sithole got into the groove.

The Dynamos midfielder went on a tantalising run on 73 minutes, working his way past Norman Njelele and Regis Marere before unleashing a low shot that proved too hot to handle for a badly exposed Jani.

Substitute Phillip Marufu, who came in for Audience Rundofa, was on hand to give Dynamos the lead on his return to action after a long lay off due to in jury.

Sithole was at it again nine minutes later.

The former Masvingo United midfielder picked up possession just after the centre line, exchanged a series of passes with Benjamin Marere before watching in horror as Jani dived full length to deny him a deserved goal.

It was Ncube’s first touch and the goal must have gone a long way in boosting his confidence levels.

The quick fire Dynamos goals rattled a Motor Action outfit that had battled hard to walk the walk after their coach Jostein Mathuthu had done the talking on the eve of the tie.

Mathuthu had vowed that DeMbare would “taste the other side of victory” in yesterday’s match and his prediction appeared to be on course as his charges stamped their authority on the match from the first whistle.

It was a worrying moment for Dynamos as Louis Matawu got the better of Carrington Gomba and Maringwa in the middle of the park while Daniel Chakupe gave their right back Phillip Sithole a torrid time.

But that entire effort and Bekhi Ncube’s goal counted for naught after referee Tendai Bwanya’s final whistle.

“We lost because of silly defensive mistakes but we played well,” said Mathuthu in conceding defeat.

Dynamos assistant coach Tonderai Ndiraya moved swiftly to quash championship talk.

“I am happy for the boys as they showed great character to come from behind and win this match. We are taking it one game at a time with our focus now being on the match against Black Rhinos.

“Yes we want to win the championship but there are still a number of tough games to play so we are urging our boys to keep pushing until the end of the season,” said Ndiraya.
