Bob Vaughan-Evans, a director with the Commercial Farmers Union (CFU) in the Midlands Province was murdered in an axe attack by intruders.

The attack took place in their Gweru home and led to the death of Vaughan-Evans who was in his late seventies. His wife Jean was due to celebrate her 80th birthday.

It’s not known if the attack was related to the current wave of farm disturbances or was part of a robbery. The same family have been attacked 3 times in the last 6 months.
