The Rise of Captain Flavour Prince

By Showbiz Correspondent

Prince Desire Magomo a.k.a Captain Flavour Prince represents the new breed versatile Zimbabwean artists who essentially produce their own music from beats, lyrics and the works.

The Musengezi High School product holds a certificate in Electronic Data Processing in Computer Management and opened a musical studio in 2002 in Zimbabwe.

Flavour P recorded a lot of artists in Zimbabwe after teaching himself fruity loops and cakewalk production software. His fame mainly grew in the ghettos and night clubs of Harare as the main stream radio stations shunned playing his music.

In 2007 “Cash Yanetsa”, his hit song talked frankly about the corruption plaguing Zimbabwe’s financial sector. During the 2008 presidential election he wrote the angry master piece  ‘Ndi Mugabe’ in which he blamed Mugabe for the malaise in the country.

He told Nehanda Radio, ‘Ndimugabe became a hym of truth and real fact after most people wanted to express their feelings over the disappearance of their loved ones or those killed during the violent campaigns.’

On the album ‘Original Zimbo’ he cries his heart out with the Track Hondo Dzenyika which talks about why children die, and how Zimbabwe needs intervention for people to unite and become one.

‘I dream big, once a wise man said dream to the moon when you fall you fall on either the stars or the clouds, but when you fall, try, try try again. I am beginning to blend in with Americans because of their love and support and I believe that the new album will capture the hearts of many who acknowledge the fact of love peace and unity and dreams becoming reality.’

Captain Flavour Prince is working on several live performances to come in Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom. He has featured several times on SW Radio Africa’s On the Pulse with Lance Guma and Brilliant Pongo. To listen to the show click here.
